No "Sunday Scaries" Tonight!

I've been sitting here on my couch grading Annotated Bibliographies for the past two hours, as Eli sits at the kitchen counter writing client treatment plans for his internship at Reach Counseling Utah. Barely a word spoken; so much work accomplished. Outside, the storm rages with wind and sideways rain. Shulamith and I tried to walk, but gave up, so you know how bad it must be out there to deter us.

When I couldn't stomach one more AI-generated annotation, I quit. Why????? Why do they give up the power of their voices to a dumb robot? AI produces the shittiest writing I've ever read. Why would anyone want to claim it as their own. It's embarrassing!

Still, though. No Sunday scaries.

Typically, by this point on a Sunday, the internal angst has already begun to take hold. My schedule on Mondays is to drive down to UVU for my 7:00 a.m. class, the first of three. At 11:00, I drive the 30 minutes back home, then leave again at 2:00 p.m. to drive up to the U. for my 3:00 class there. Once that one ends and I walk all the way back to the parking garage, it's nearly 5:00 p.m. Then comes the most depressing moment of the day. As I enter "home" into my navigation app, I shudder at the words that appear: "One hour and twelve minutes. Heavy traffic. Arrival: 6:12 p.m."

"I can't do it!" I say to myself. Or out loud. Probably mostly out loud. By that point, I feel too utterly worn out to drive over an hour in heavy traffic. But oh how I want to be home. And the only way to be home is to get in that car and drive. So I do. It's the same on Wednesdays and Thursdays, so many bad days.

But this week. THIS WEEK!

This week is fall break at the University of Utah. All five days. That means 10 days total that I don't have to drive up there. UVU and SLCC don't have the full week off, only Thursday and Friday. I don't care. It's fine. That trek up to the U. and back is what kills me, so I can say with near certainty that I won't die this coming week.

And tonight. Yes, I'm frustrated and offended that my students think it's okay to cheat their way through college and that they're naive enough to think I won't notice the pointless, generic drivel of AI-generated text. But whatever.

Whatever.

Because no "Sunday Scaries" tonight.
